Vaginoplasty, sometimes referred to as vaginal tightening surgery, is a procedure that may be performed to repair or reconstruct the vaginal tissues and surrounding support structures. It is typically considered in patients who have experienced changes in pelvic floor support following childbirth, aging, or other factors. The procedure is designed to address anatomical concerns by tightening or repairing soft tissue and supporting structures of the vaginal canal when clinically indicated. In some cases, additional procedures such as labiaplasty or perineoplasty may be performed as part of an individualized surgical plan. A consultation with a qualified surgeon is required to assess symptoms, anatomy, and medical history in order to determine whether surgical treatment is appropriate. During this consultation, risks, benefits, limitations, and alternative treatment options will be reviewed in detail. As with all surgical procedures, outcomes vary between individuals, and no specific functional or cosmetic result can be guaranteed.

How a Vaginoplasty/Vaginal Rejuvenation Surgery is Done

At La Fontaine Toronto Cosmetic Surgery Clinic, the Vaginoplasty procedure is performed by an esteemed OB GYN who specializes in cosmetic gynecology. You will either be put under general anesthesia or given a spinal anesthetic. Your surgeon will use a laser to make incisions in the vaginal walls and suture tissue together with dissolving stitches. Excess skin is then removed. There will be no visible scarring because the Vaginoplasty procedure is essentially all performed inside the folds of the Vagina, so no scarring, marks, or spots can be visibly detected. When the surgery is completed, you`ll spend some time in our recover room being monitored by our surgical staff to ensure you wake up fully and aren`t experiencing negative side effects. This surgery usually takes about an hour to do at our Toronto cosmetic surgery clinic. However, if you choose to have other procedures done simultaneously, that time period may be extended. You`ll be able to go home the same day.

Vaginoplasty Risks and Recovery

As with any surgical procedure, vaginoplasty carries potential risks and complications, which may include bleeding, infection, and reactions to anesthesia. Common post-operative effects can include pain, swelling, and discomfort in the surgical area. Following all post-operative instructions provided by your surgeon is important to support healing and reduce the risk of complications. Recovery time varies between patients. Many individuals may require several days to one week off work following the procedure, with overall healing typically taking approximately 6 to 8 weeks. During this time, patients are generally advised to avoid strenuous physical activity and exercise, as well as to follow guidance regarding resumption of normal activities. Your surgeon will advise you on appropriate timing based on your individual recovery.

Labiaplasty

Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure that involves reshaping or reducing the labia minora and/or labia majora. It may be considered for patients experiencing functional concerns, discomfort, or changes in tissue following childbirth, aging, or other factors. Some patients may experience physical discomfort during activities such as exercise or when wearing certain types of clothing. In other cases, patients may seek consultation to address anatomical appearance concerns. A consultation with a qualified physician is required to determine suitability and to review risks, benefits, limitations, and expected outcomes. Individual results vary.

Perineoplasty

Perineoplasty, also known as perineorrhaphy, is a surgical procedure that involves repair or reconstruction of the perineal area, which is located between the vaginal opening and the anus. It may be considered in cases where there has been tissue stretching, separation, or scarring, which can occur following childbirth, prior surgical procedures, or other contributing factors.

These changes in the perineal region may be associated with physical discomfort or functional concerns in some patients. Some individuals may also seek assessment due to changes in tissue appearance or structural support in this area.

Perineoplasty may involve repair of scarred or separated tissue and removal of excess tissue when clinically indicated. The surgical area is then closed with sutures to support appropriate healing. In some cases, perineoplasty may be performed at the same time as other related procedures, depending on the patient’s needs and surgical plan. A consultation with a qualified physician is required to determine suitability for surgery and to review risks, benefits, limitations, and expected outcomes. All treatment decisions are made on an individual basis following clinical assessment.
