Doctor Lawrence B. Cohen is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto and a gastroenterologist consultant at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Cleveland clinic Canada, Kensington Endoscopy Centre and the Ontario Endoscopy Clinic. He is a past Director of the Division of Gastroenterology at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.

Dr. Cohen received his Master of Science in Pharmacology from the University of Toronto in 1976, his Doctor of Medicine from McMaster University in 1979 and completed his Internal Medicine Fellowship at the University of Toronto in 1984. He received his subspecialty training in Gastroenterology at the University of Toronto and Therapeutic Endoscopy at Wellesley Hospital in Toronto in 1985.

Dr. Cohen has been published in peer-reviewed journals a number of times over the past 20 years and has participated in many clinical trials in gastroenterology and hepatology.

His current clinical research interests focus on endoscopic bariatrics, biologics for inflammatory bowel disease and innovative antiviral agents for Hepatitis C liver disease.

Dr. Cohen has received a number of awards, including the Award in Therapeutics from McMaster University, the Young Clinicians Teacher Award from Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, the Continuing Education award from the Boyd Academy, University of Toronto and the Ambulatory Teaching Award from Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.

Member of the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology

Dr. Cohen is an active member of the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology, the Ontario Association of Gastroenterology, the Canadian Medical Association, the American College of Physicians and the American Gastroenterology Association, among others. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology.
